NCFE is the UK's longest established awarding body, dating back to 1848 and recognised as a highly professional and responsive educational and qualification organisation, committed to maintaining the highest standard. NCFE Qualifications listed on the UK national Qualifications Framework.

NCFE is recognised as an awarding body by the qualification regulators ('regulators') for England, Wales and Northern Ireland. The regulators are the Office of the Qualifications and Examinations Regulator (Ofqual) in England, the Department for Children, Education, Lifelong Learning and Skills (DCELLS) in Wales and the Council for Curriculum, Examinations and Assessment (CCEA) in Northern Ireland.

The LSMT is proud to be accredited to provide NCFE accredited awards. NCFE awards are well known and widely accepted by employers and education providers. 
All of the awards and qualifications are accredited according to the levels defined by The National Qualifications Framework which is the educational framework endorsed by the three UK regulatory authorities (QCA, ACCAC & CCEA) and it defines levels of learning in terms of both academic and vocational qualifications. The NQF defines levels of learning in terms of both academic and vocational qualifications.

Accreditation by NCFE is a guarantee of quality. It means that a learning programme has been scrutinised and approved by an independent panel of experienced educational professionals and is quality audited biannually by NCFE. The centre delivering the programmes has been licensed by NCFE on the basis of its own quality systems.

Overview

This award covers the delivery of physical, emotional or enabling care to clients in a holistic way. The candidate will usually be delivering care in support of patients well-being. Candidates may often be working without direct supervision or on their own, such as in a client’s own home. Candidates will have a degree of responsibility and autonomy, and will be required to make decisions within boundaries and limits agreed with their team in line with the NMC professional Code of Practice and local procedures. The candidate would be expected to seek support, advice or assistance if they are unclear about what to do or if unusual or untoward situations arise (such as significant deterioration in the client’s condition).

Health and Social Care HND (Level 5)
Course content
This is a foundation degree course which offers student the opportunity to explore the rich and diverse field of Health and Social Care and leads to a BSc degree in Health or Nursing with a number of UK Universities. The course brings together elements of physiological, sociological, and psychological health and social care-related topics. Module content is of direct relevance to a wide range of health, social care and welfare provision.

Teaching/Assessment
Throughout the two years of the course, various teaching methods are employed. This ensures that every student has the opportunity to experience what best suits their learning style.

The student will study a number of units. Written and verbal assignments are used to assess progress to complete all assignment briefs. There are no formal written examinations.

Progression
This programme allows candidates to progress onto the BSc [Hons] in Health and Social Care.
Career pathways include health promotion, welfare, nursing, social work, management, probation, education welfare, education support, occupational therapy and physiotherapy.

Entry Requirements
Possession of one A Level pass with three additional GCSEs at grade C or above or equivalent [such as BTEC National Diploma, NNEB Diploma, NVQ level 3, Access course or Diploma in Welfare Studies, Good command of written and spoken English or Appropriate work experience..]
